LOCATION:

St.Lucia is approximately 1,300 miles southeast of Florida, in the Windwards islands (which is part of Lesser Antillies) The 238 sqare-mile island is 100 miles northwest of Barbados.

St Lucia is a common wealth country with population of about 150,000.Usual tourist season is from October to April & May.(Though many tourist do come off season to take advantage of the Off season Low Hotel rates)
Major international credit cards (American Express, Visa, MasterCard) are widely accepted at most hotels, shopping centres, restaurants, etc.
Currency
The currency of St. Lucia is the Eastern Caribbean dollar although U.S. currency is readily accepted throughout the island. Currency exchange bureaus are located in Castries; and the National Commercial Bank has a branch at Hewanorra Airport. For conversion rates, use our currency converter.

Customs

The duty free allowance into St. Lucia is 200 cigarettes or 250 grams of tobacco or 50 cigars, one liter of spirits or wine. A duty free shopping complex is located at Pointe Seraphine, and there are duty free shops at the departure lounge at Hewanorra Airport.

Departure Tax

US$20.00 (EC$54.00), payable on departure at all airports for all passengers leaving the island.

Driver's License

You can obtain a temporary driver's license from the Immigration Office at the airports or directly from the car rental company. A valid driver's license is required. The temporary license costs U.S. $12 or E.C. $30 and is valid for three months. Driving is on the left hand side of the road.

Electricity

The standard is 220 volts/50 cycles (Hz). Most hotels have adapter switches for electric shavers and hair dryers. A few hotels have 110 Volt, 50Hz supply.

Entry Requirements

If you are coming into St. Lucia from the U.S. or a Commonwealth country, proof of citizenship is required (either a birth certificate or a passport) and a return or onward ticket. Otherwise, a passport and a visa is required along with a return or onward ticket.

Food

Cuisine on the island is available to suit every taste including Creole, French, English, Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Asian, Malaysian, Thai, Indian, Indonesian, American and Vegetarian.

Located between St. Vincent and Martinique, St. Lucia is the second largest of the Windward Islands. 27 miles long and 14 miles wide.

ST.LUCIA JAZZ FESTIVAL:

Now the world famous, St.Lucia Jazz festival held every year in early May attracts Jazz Music lovers from all over the world to see the worlds best Jazz music players perform here in the perfect caribbean backdrops of outdoor locations aswell as in various resorts. During that week Jazz spirit is felt every where.

THE ARC (ATLANTIC RALLY FOR CRUISERS):

One of the world's best & largest ocean crossing race (transatlantic) starts in the Canary islands(Europe) & ST.Lucia is the finishing point. Over 250 yachts take part in the race, which is head in early december.

CARNIVAL:

Held in July, the St Lucia Carnival is one of its kind in the Caribbean.Its the time to experience best Caribbean Music with Local Calypso & Soca. Costumed bands parade through the steet dancing to the tunes of the latest heart throbbing beats blasting through the air.Its a site to behold.

ST.LUCIA BILL FISHING TOURNAMENT:
This fishing competetion held in september, attracts quite a few fishing experts around the caribbean.There are strict rules & participants try to break the previous records (to catch Blue Marlins weighing more than 1000 Lbs)

GOLF:

St Lucia has two golf clubs.The 18 hole ST LUCIA GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB is 6815 yards par 72 championship golf course & offers fabulous views of the caribbean & atlantic coast lines.
There is club house,pro shop & driving range.The other nine hole golf course is situated within Sandals resort.

WATER SPORTS:

One can enjoy the water sporting at its best at St.Lucias many beach resorts. You can do SNORKELLING, SCUBA DIVING, WIND SURFING,JET SKIING & many other water sports.

YACHTING:

You can rent day charters or long distance yacht rentals from Moorings at Marigot Bay or Destination St.Lucia Ltd.

CARIBBEAN SEA EXCURSIONS:
Enjoy the day sail or Sunset cruise on Brig Unicorn (which was used in the movie "ROOTS") or on several 56 feet catamarans.

WHALE WATCHING:

St Lucias territorial waters are home to several varieties of whales namely pilot,sperm & humpback.

TENNIS & SQUASH:

All the large resorts have floodlit tennis courts.Or you can reserve a court with hourly rental fee at St Lucia Raquet club, Rex st lucian resort or Windjammer resort. Sqash can be played at St.Lucia yacht club which has two air conditioned wooden floored glass backed squash courts.

St Lucia National trust has established two major hiking trails.One can also enjoy mountain biking.
